Free Public Domain Movies
These are sites that host movies in the public domain, many of which are classics. All you need is a broadband connection and some popcorn.
bMovies.com: There are some good ones here: Bad Taste (Peter Jackson’s first feature-length film), Metropolis, Angel and the Badman, Mclintock, The Outlaw, Carnival of Souls, Dementia 13 (Coppola’s first film), House on Haunted Hill (classic Vincent Price vehicle), Little Shop of Horrors (early Jack Nicholson), Night of the Living Dead (classic low-budget fright-fest), Nosferatu (Murnau’s creepy silent film), The Last Man on Earth, and Death of a Ninja.
Emol.org has a sizable selection, but they’re only viewable in a small format. Some of the movies they host are downloadable. Some of their titles are Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, the classic Long John Silver with Robert Newton, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Fire Over England, Rashomon, Beat The Devil, The Man Who Knew Too Much, My Favorite Brunette, Dressed to Kill, Suddenly, My Man Godfrey, His Girl Friday, Charade, Penny Serenade, Scarlet Street.
Freemoviescinema.com has a good selection, with some avant-garde titles like Lucifer Rising.
But the most impressive outlet I’ve found for finding free movies online is Moviesfoundonline.com. They have tons of links to public domain movies and tv shows hosted by others on video sharing sites.

Wearable Hiding Places
The Japanese have become alarmed at the rising levels of street crime in their cities. One enterprising Japanese fashion designer has been inspired by animals who use camouflage as a self-defense tool and applied it to humans.

1,000 Greatest Films of All Time
“As voted by 1,320 critics, reviewers, scholars, filmmakers and other likely film types.”
For film geeks only: An enjoyable way to gauge how much of a film geek you are is to scroll down to the Spreadsheet Lists (Excel File) bullet point and download the list. Then go through the list and highlight the films you’ve seen. I’ve seen about 600 of them (and frankly, the 400 or so that I haven’t seen look like real snoozers), so I still have a way to go at perfecting my film geek quotient.

Henrik Franzon’s Top 3,000 Most Acclaimed Albums & Songs Of All Time
Compiled by a 34-year old Swedish statistician named Henrik Franzon. He came up with the lists by finding every list he could get his hands on, from critics, musicians, and music industry insiders and using his own computer program to compute them. According to Franzon the most acclaimed album of all time is Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys, and the most acclaimed song of all time is Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan. Pet Sounds and Like a Rolling Stone were released within 10 months of each other.
There’s also an interesting list of the best artists by country and state. According to this list Clifford Brown, the innovative jazz trumpeter who died in 1956, is Delaware’s (where I hail from) sole great contribution to the world of music.
Check out Franzon’s site here.
